The Indian government has once again blocked some YouTube channels for the country’s national security, foreign relations and spreading false information. Let us inform that this time 8 YouTube channels have been blocked by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It is said that out of 8 channels, 7 are from India and 1 is from Pakistan. These YouTube channels had more than 114 million views and more than 8.5 million subscribers. These channels are blocked under the IT Rules, 2021. The block content was found by the ministry to be detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the state, India’s friendly relations with foreign states and public order in the country.
accused of spreading fake news
The I&B ministry also revealed that these YouTube channels have been blocked for spreading hatred among religious communities in India. It is also being said that false claims were made about the country in various videos published on Block YouTube channels.
The IT Ministry commented on the YouTube block, saying the channel contained fake news – such as the Indian government ordering the demolition of religious structures; The Government of India has banned the celebration of religious festivals, declaration of religious war in India etc. An attempt has been made in such content to create communal disharmony and disturb the public order in the country.
The ministry further informed that YouTube channels were also used to post fake news on various topics like Indian Armed Forces, Jammu and Kashmir etc. The content was considered completely inaccurate and sensitive from the point of view of national security and India’s friendly relations with foreign states.
